New York (State) ... York is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It also shares an international border with Canada. The state's five largest cities are New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse. The state has 62 counties. New York is known for its history as a gateway for immigration to the United States and its status as a transportation and manufacturing center. New York was inhabited by Lenape, Algonquian and Iroquois Native Americans at the time Dutch and French settlers arrived in the 16th century. New York was forted by the Dutch at Albany in 1614 and colonized in 1624, at both Albany and Manhattan, before falling under English rule in 1664. About one third of all the military engagements of the American Revolutionary War took place in New York, after which it became the 11th state to ratify the United States Constitution in 1788.

I was rummaging through the closets of my brain this morning trying to think what my next review would be about and it struck me that even though I have New York in my username, because I love the city with a passion, I have yet to write a review about it. So here it is! I have wanted to go to New York for as long as I can possibly remember. I think it may stem from watching lots of American films when I was a youngster (such as Home Alone) that centred around New York, particularly at Christmas time when it showed the big Christmas tree at Times Square etc. I was lucky enough as a child to be taken on lots of family holidays, and while they were ...  Read the complete review

I was in New York just two weeks ago now and it was one of the best holiday trips I’ve ever been on, New York is a marvellous city that I definitely will visit again. I have been to London, I've been to Paris and I've been to New York and New York has got to be my favourite. New York is huge and has plenty to do there also everything is very well priced. I went to New York in a group of 18 - it was a college trip. On the very first day we arrived it was late in the evening, we landed at New Ark airport and took a bus – which was pre-booked on a journey through New Ark. On to New York, it was rush hour, traffic was everywhere but we got ...  Read the complete review

I went to this city a few months ago I loved the everything in New York and wish I could go straight back tommorow. I think the thing that most appealed to me on my visit was the huge amount of great shops I mean once I got there I couldn't really stop buying all the great things on sale there that I liked. Allthough I live in London due to my hectic schedule I never get to go in to the city like I would like to but when I got to New York it felt great apart from my busy time shopping I enjoyed visiting attractions like the Statue of Liberty which is a must if your in New York. The night life's great and you don't have to worry about eating healthy ...  Read the complete review
