When my wife and I visited this area it was on a special trip last Sept/Oct. Our kids paid for a helicopter trip around and above the Falls. This was a great experience and a must for all trippers.

A trip to Toronto is not complete with a visit to Niagara Falls, a town 2 hours away by road or rail. A trip on the Maid of the Mist boats are a must even if you do get to look daft in a bright blue plastic poncho. You should also check out the view from the nearby tower which looks down upon the Falls (you can also eat in the revolving restaurant). For a small extra outlay you can also take a trip 'behind the Falls' and see from behind the tons of water as it flows towards the Great Lakes. But that does enable you to get right up close at the front as well for some spectacular views of the Falls and other trippers take the Maid boat rides. AVOID venturing far from the river however, as much of the town itself is tacky and nothing much to look at. And be warned that the train connecting Niagara with Toronto is the New York service, so on it's return it can be delayed by as much as a couple of hours as Canadian Customs do their thing - so don't make too many plans for the early evening as it returns to Toronto.
