Advantages: close, lots to see

Disadvantages: weather unreliable

An ideal choice for a family holiday, not too far to travel, and lots to see and do.
We spent two weeks in Normandy one year, based in Houlgate with Eurocamp.
There is certainly lots to see and do in the area. Bayeaux is a very beautiful little town in its own right, besides the fact that it host the famous tapestry. Then there are the d-day landing beaches and museums, well worth visiting.
There are the big towns of Caen and Rouen, and lots of prettier little towns like Liseux.
There are also some beautiful seaside towns, Honfleur quite rightly being the most famous of them, but Deaville and Trouville are not far behind.
The people of the area are very friendly, and everywhere there are signs saying "normany welcomes its liberators". The food is also very good. It perhaps not one of the best areas for its own wine production, but there are a few liquors produced in the area.
And of course it is very easy to reach, you can travel direct to Le Havre or Caen.
Unfortunately the weather isnt very different to this country though!
