Ok, so I'll admit it. The title is a little misleading, but only if you're visiting during the first year of every decade. That's when the infamous Passion Play is performed - the village's message of defiance to the plague which spread through Europe many centuries ago. I'll try to stay off the subject of Passion Play, however. While an interesting sight and worthy experience, the play is near indecipherable to non-German speakers, and as it is only performed every ten years it is by no means the only pull factor to Oberammergau.
