Advantages: your children will love it
Disadvantages: you'll pay thru the nose
Orlando, I think, is about all the things that make America bad. On the other hand, it should be experienced, just so it can be seen to be believed. Lets start with the theme parks. $50 a head for adults, a little less for children. Epcot, in Disney, is all very well if you've never been to any of the places depicted, but it has no rides, and the English section will either make you chuckle or make you feel ill. The whole thing's like a big playground for grownups, and its only well known to Americans for being able to 'Drink around the World' - ie. having a drink in each country. The food is terrible and overpriced, and with all the shops around I felt like I had just paid to enter a great big themed shopping mall. Universal Studios new park, Island of Adventure, is similarly priced, but I feel was more worth it, as it has some truely great and heart-thumping rollercoasters. Still, the commercialism is always there. My overall suggestion - go there, see international drive, do the disney, and then leave. Go to St. Augustine. Go to Miami. Go anywhere.

- 31/10/00 Oi! I semi-resent that comment. I'm a teenager, but not a kid (most of the time), but I do think that for $50 I should get more than some overpriced food, gimmicky parades and plaster-cast copies of various world location.
Advent ure Islands does similar themed locations, but with actual rides in it as well, and its much better done, and more up to date, as well. |

- 21/10/00 you're right - if you're looking for thrilling rides for teenage kids stay well away from Epcot as it will bore them to tears. Try Busch Gardens or Sea World |
