It also gives you an opportunity to see, close up, the gilt creatures that sit on the top of the castle's peaks. Osaka (City of Water) has been a major port and economic centre for hundreds of years originally trading with China and Korea. Having wanted to visit Osaka ever since I saw the Ridley Scott movie "Black Rain"(you might remember it as the film where Andy Garcia and Michael Douglas play two policemen, with the former being decapitated by motorcycle riding members of the Yakuza), my girlfriend's discovery of a cheap flight and hotel deal, which luckily coincided with a week long holiday from my workplace in Seoul, provided me with the perfect opportunity to visit a country that had long fascinated me.
