Padova (or Padua in it's Anglicised form), is an ideal spot for exploring the Veneto region of Italy. You can save money by staying here and using the excellent train service into Venice - there are up to ten trains an hour between the two cities.

Recommended as a place to stay in Padova is the CASA DEL PELLEGRINO. This hotel, a stone throw away from the Basilica, has a wonderful oak-panelled reception desk, with the smartest and friendliest receptionist you could ever wish to meet.

The rooms themselves are extemely spacious, all with their own large bathrooms.

The best thing about this hotel, however, is the price - only 90,000 Italian Lire for a double room (around £30 / $45.00).
