Advantages: friendly place. Beautiful sites. Cheap holiday.

Disadvantages: Crime

I was in Pakistan for four months and when I was there I had a wonderful time. It is a great place to go to if you are careful.

There are wonderful places to visit in Pakistan. I would suggest not missing out on going to some of the faboulous mosque's when your there.

When you go though remeber to take off your shoes. You pay a small fee and get a numbered ticket to recieve them again. If you go into the mosque uncovered or wearing shows this will lead to anger and embarssement to the local people.

I would suggest going to the king's palace in Lahore if you have time. Make sure you hire a guide who speaks english and he will tell you of the wonderful history of the place. Don't forget to try some suger can juice from the seller's outside. Very sweet.

The best places that I found for shopping were Jinnah Shopping Centre in Islambad. Take a bus or Taxi. Can be very expensive as it's where the IN people of the city come to shop but there is a great place where they sell 50 flavours of ice cream. You get around three scoops with sauce and swirl for 50p. Next to it is a shop that sell's english food so if you miss tertley tea bags or cadburys chocolate it's the place to go.

For chepaer shopping and more of an adventure, try Rawalpindi Markets. Usually on fridays, it sell's a wide range of good's from vegetables to shawls. All at great prices

Watch out for pick-pockets though. Don't take too much money out with you. Everything is so reasonable you won't need it.

For safe eating out go to the best hotel you can find. It will cost you less than a take away at home but won't give you a stomach ache. Drink only bottled water when there. There's lots of places that sell coke, water in fridges alaong the way

Be careful of the police. We got stopped for running a red light when we did'nt and almost had to pay an on the spot fine.
My friend who lives in Pakistan tells me it happen's all the time.

It may sound harsh but if you give to one beggar they seem to go swarming round you. I found it best to carry a few low notes on me which are only worth pennies in english if you feel the need to give.

Enjoy yourself but be careful over there
