Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: travel

Firstly, please can we get the pronounciation correct...PAFOS not PATHOS.

Now I've got that bee out of my bonnet...

Paphos is the original capital of Cyprus and is situated on the west coast. It's a generally hilly area with many little villages set into the hillside. The resort has built up around its numerous beaches (not all of which are safe...more of that later). It's an ideal place for those who like nightlife and those who don't. Less built up than Limassol and less party atmosphere than Ayia Napa (Thank God), it is ideal for everyone and there is always something to do. Here are a few of my suggestions

For those of you who like old relics etc
1) The castle in the Harbour
(On summer nights there are sometimes events on down here)

2)The mosaics on the hill just above the harbour

3) The tomb of the kings (on the Tomb of the Kings road)

If you fancy a drive, try the bath place of Aphrodite in Latchi. Absolutely stunning.

To eat let me recommend

1) Melania (on Tomb of the Kings road near the Aliceland Cafe) Doesn't look much but the food is superb and very reasonable.

A drive will take you up to Imogens in Kathikas. More tradionally village food but delicious!

Unfortunately, the best food seems to be served in the least auspicious surroundings but if you see locals in there, you kow the food is good and reasonable priced.

Nightlife

Usually starts in Robin Hood then the choice is yours

If you want to try something authentic, see if you can find a proper Bazouki night. Expensive but brilliant.

Back to the downside....

Driving

Cypriots drive on the left, right or in the middle. However if hiring a car, I suggest you drive on the left and leave the Cypriots to their little capers!

Beaches

Trying to find a quiet beach is not difficult especially if you have a car. What
is difficult is trying to find a safe quiet beach. Most of the dangerous beaches do not look particularly daunting but there are strong rip tides and currents. If in doubt do not swim.

Men

Yes the Greek men will try it on. Mostly they are harmless. Not usually a problem if accompanied by a man but girls beware, they don't ply you with free drinks for nothing.

Taxis

Generally good value for money...do ask them to turn on their meter though!

Have a great time!

Sorry about the low rating, but for me to rate higher, your op would need more detail, like whereabouts Paphos is, and maybe some other information about the places you've named. If you do decide to add more, tell me, and I will re-rate. Marie
