PattayaNewest Review: ... if you are travelling with a child. We ended up staying in the Rabbit Resort, one of the few, if not only, low rise resorts in Pattaya. It is run by a Thai man and his American wife who call themselves Mr and Mrs Rabbit. Mrs Rabbit made herself known to all guests whereas Mr Rabbit was invisible during our stay. The Rabbit Resort is on the part of Jomtien known as Dongtang Beach, which is ... more |

I am sure, up until the day he died, my husband wondered how he managed to convince me that Pattaya would be a great destination for a family holiday. However, he did manage it and more to the point, our visit was a memorable one. Whilst I cannot say I have any desire to ever go back, I am glad I have seen one of Thailand's main beach resorts which is the antithesis to more traditional destinations such as Koh Samui or Hua Hin. Pattaya is often known as "Bangkok on Sea", and the town itself is situated just over 100 miles from Bangkok, or about a 90 minute drive away. We arrived in Bangkok and as ever, spent the first night ... Read the complete review

My Husband and I have just came back from staying in Thailand for 2 weeks. We stayed in Jomteim, just outside of Pattaya, away from the noise and hussle. Pattaya is a loud, vibrant and in your face type place. I believe you either love it or hate it. Pattaya itself is the sex capital, which I did not actually realise until arriving!! There are plenty of bars, nightlife, restaurants and things to do etc. We steered clear of the sex life, not our type of thing to be honest. We just wanted somewhere different. There are some lovely excursions to go on. We visited the Tiger zoo. This was an amazing experience. If you visit Pattaya it i s a ... Read the complete review

My husband like a bit of adventure. We decided to go to Thailand during the Christmas holidays and were glad we did. Flights: We flew out of Heathrow with Emirates and flew economy class. However, economy was like flying 1st class! We got real wet warm flannels upon take off, generous and comfortable seats, as well as personal tv screens. It was a long journey, but flying with Emirates made it a comfortable as it could possibly be. Airport- Arrivals: Going through immigration was a long slow process. They are not rushed. So, you must just be patient. Taxi to Pataya: We had a taxi booked to go to our hotel. ... Read the complete review

Thailand's package tour mecca, Pattaya is located 150km south east of Bangkok. Until the late-sixties the city was a small fishing village with a few holiday homes owned by the wealthier residents of the capital. With the outbreak of the Vietnam War, however, Pattaya was designated as the official R & R centre for the US Forces and everything changed. The Pattaya of today is still sleepy in certain places. In other areas, notably South Pattaya, it has been mass developed into a noisy, brash city with nightlife rivalling anything found in Bangkok itself. The area around Walking Street-known locally as "The Strip"-is pretty much a huge brothel with a ... Read the complete review

Pattaya is a booming beach and recreation resort two hours drive from Bangkok that is all things to all people. Friends of mine have a bar there and I have been visiting most years for 15 years. I have seen phenomenal growth, fields changed to buildings, building knocked down and rebuilt. You can never be sure what will be there when you return. To package tour operators it's a beach resort they can sell cheaply with pictures of a palm tree backed beach on a blue sea and promises of a glimpse at the mysterious east. If a beach holiday is what you are looking for do not book Pattaya. The beach is long but narrow and the water is filthy. If you are happy to ... Read the complete review
