Newest Review: ... of the afternoon at the Plantation and still didn’t get to the gift shop. As well as the historical aspect, Plymouth has several beaches within a short drive and also gives access to the attractive towns and beaches of Cape Cod. We stayed for five days and had plenty more to do, although New England was experiencing a heat wave this July and we had to take cover by the hotel’s swimming pool. I would recommend it as a holiday base for at least a few days. Just don’t let on that you are from Britain or those muskets may come out! ... more

Plymouth is an attractive seaside town on the coast of Massachusetts, between Boston to the north and Cape Cod to the south. It is proud of its heritage as the site of the landing of the Mayflower in 1620 and the settlement of the “Pilgrims”, and much of its interest as a tourist destination is built on that heritage. Americans seem to treat a visit to Plymouth almost as a pilgrimage and there is the lingering feeling that the British were the bad guys because of the persecution of the simple Quaker faith in England and then the oppression of the American people which led to the American revolution.
