Newest Review: ... frequent the few lively places in the city centre. Some friends of mine who lived in P'ohang summed up the entertainment possibilities as consisting of waiting for the next fight to break out or participating in a McDonald's crawl(there are three in a one mile radius). They spent every weekend on the train to Seoul, Pusan or Taegu-places you'll pretty soon wish you had chosen to visit instead. If you do have to go to P'ohang then there are a few places of interest in the vicinity. P'ohang is the second biggest city in Korea's Kyongsanbuk-do province. Famous for the giant POSCO(P'ohang Steel Company) works, this city of 250000 people has little in the way of attractions to hold your interest for long. To be honest, the only reason for a tourist to visit P'ohang would be to catch a ferry(or, since 1996, take a helicopter, 166 miles northeast to the beautiful island of Ullongdo(the fast ferry takes 3 hours and tickets are available from Dae-a Travel Agency in Seoul by calling 02-514 6766).
