Port El KantaouiNewest Review: ... licensed to sell wine and the local Celtia beer. (Celtia is a refreshing, slightly bitter, lager with a low alcohol content. I enjoyed it and it often worked out at the same price or slighly cheaper than the bottled water.) Adjoining the square is a little funfair with about half a dozen rides and a few more of the inevitable souvenir shops. I have a suspicion that the Tunisian book of ... more |

Port El Kantoui is a custom built holiday resort on the Tunisian coast abbout 6 miles North of Sousse. It is a posh suburb now with some beautiful but expensive houses and flats, for the wealthy residents. An imposing harbour and marina is the centrepiece of the town with good beaches on either side just a short walk away. It was fairly quiet when we visited because it was November and low season. The weather was still very pleasant and we enjoyed sitting in the sun with a coffee and 'people watching'. The town is well laid out with wide roads and spacious parks and pavements. To me the whitewashed hotels and apartments gave the centre a ... Read the complete review

In August 2007, I went to Port El Kantaoui for my family summer holiday. One of the main reasons we chose Tunisia was because of its climate- Hot, and also its general standard of hotels and hygiene in the hotels. I went with my mum, my brother and my mum's best friend, and the hotel we stayed in, Hotel Imperial Marhaba of which was in the Riu chain, suited us all perfectly. We flew out to Tunisia around the 9th of August for two weeks on an all inclusive holiday bases, which worked out really well and the only problem with that was that my mum and Kristina (her friend) didn't like the spirits. She said that the vodka wasn't very good as it tasted different to her usual ... Read the complete review

If you are looking for a fun filled, busy and loud holiday then this is not for you. Port El Kantaoui is right on the sea and basically forms a long stretch of sandy beach lined with well spaced quality hotels. Overall the beaches are clean and rubbish free except from the odd jelly fish (Stinging) type. You get a good impression from the beaches, not to full of people. You will sometimes see the odd policeman (armed) but they seem to like to look for the fruit salesman you se now and again selling. As you walk down the beach you pass through various areas allocated to hotels and to locals. The beach is busy but not to the point where you ... Read the complete review

For anyone put off by the thought of having to haggle your way through a holiday in North Africa, you should try the modern resort of PORT EL KANTAOUI Visitors to either Tunisia or Morocco who are not used to the ancient custom of haggling for ‘bargains’ when shopping find it exciting at first. But, after a while it becomes tiresome – well it did for me. Then I stumbled across a relaxing resort which had fixed prices in the shops and did not try to rip the tourist off at all points. PORT EL KANTAOUI was built around 20 years ago as a 'purpose made' resort. It is centred around a very smart European-styled Marina, with Bars, ... Read the complete review

I would consider myself well traveled for my age and I try to visit new places whenever I can. I decided to give Tunisia a try as I've never been there and I'd heard a lot of good things about it. So I searched around and found a good deal for a week in a nice looking 4* hotel in Port El Kantaoui called Marharba Palace. I must say that when I arrived at the hotel after the coach transfer from the airport I felt I'd made a good choice. This was mainly due to the clean and pretty surroundings, it felt safe and comforting which was a huge relief. Then the next big surprise was the room! I think I may have got the honeymoon suite by pure luck ... Read the complete review
