The 'strip' has something for everyone, however I can see why people say its similar to Blackpool as it is so 'English' there. Not really the place to experience the Cypriot culture. I have been to Protaras 4 times and I love it! Developed a slight fear of flying so havent been for 2 years but have so many fond memories. The first time I went was in 2001 when it was much cheaper. We were in Cyprus on a last minute Package Deal and were travelling from Larnaca airport to our resort of ... Read the complete review

Protaras is a purpose built resort with lots to offer in the summer season. There are some of the best beaches (outside of Northern Cyprus) to be found in this part of the island. Most beaches offer watersports including parascending, jetskis, waterskiing and pedaloes. BEACHES * Fig Tree Bay is the most famous with its tiny little island lying within the bay. The sand is quite fine and facilities include watersports, sunbeds and umbrellas. In the height of summer though I have found that you can hardly move - especially at weekends when all of the locals descend. There is also a reasonably priced restaurant at the top which have a superb range of sandwiches ... Read the complete review
