Advantages: Pretty, friendly people, lots of restaurants

Disadvantages: Bit commercialised

I have been to Protaras 4 times and I love it! Developed a slight fear of flying so havent been for 2 years but have so many fond memories. The first time I went was in 2001 when it was much cheaper. Food was stupidly cheap (it still is cheaper than UK but not much). The beaches are clean and beautiful (fig tree bay in particular). The 'strip' has something for everyone, however I can see why people say its similar to Blackpool as it is so 'English' there. Not really the place to experience the Cypriot culture. But, nonetheless an enjoyable location for a holiday.

Plenty of eateries along the strip, including my favourites: Only Fools & Horses bar where you can get a Del Boy cocktail and watch constant re-runs of the show. We ate there one night and drank cocktails until we were squiffy and the bill was only £30!! Bargain! The Friends bar is the same but with re-runs of Friends. We ate at a cypriot restaurant twice but my other half wasnt too keen but I love a good cypriot dish.

The resort is overall very clean (was when we went), friendly and beautiful. Its home from home with the McDonalds outlet and "kiss me quick" hats but is stunning and a fab holiday nonetheless. Highly recommended.

Summary: Lovely resort but if you want to experience Cypriot culture - give it a miss
