My husband and I spent a week here in the month of June. It was our first time in Cyprus. We flew out of Glasgow and stayed in self catering apartments called the Melini Apartments. Our apartment was lovely and spacious and we had a nice balcony with a beautiful sea view. As we were only there for a week we wanted to see as much of the country as we could. We didn't fancy hiring a car so we did several organised excursions.

Having worked for a few years as a holiday rep I know that when the agent's commission plus the rep's is added on the price of an excursion can be pretty dear so I always try and buy direct from the agents. In Cyprus there are loads of agents selling excursions at a fraction of the price you'll pay if you get them from your rep. We paid approximately £7 for each trip as opposed to around £15 each from the rep and it was the same company the reps used.

We went to the Trodos mountains, Paphos and Nicosia. A couple of the trips even included lunch which was really delicious. Our tour guides were historians who really knew their stuff. The only complaint I would've had was that we visited so many churches.

Everything is reasonably priced from the food and drink to the souvenirs, and we managed to pick up a few good bargains. The jewellery is very reasonable as well and we bought our wedding rings there; 18 carat gold for a fraction of the price it would've cost us back home. I would have no problems recommending this holiday to anyone. Protaras is one of the nicest beach resorts I've ever been to.
