Provincetown or P-Town as it is known to the locals is situated at the very tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Like Key West, Florida & Ogunquit, Maine the town is a popular destination for gay and lesbian tourists. The town has a significant amount of history and is well known for its writers and artists. The town has plenty of shopping, restaurants, bars, clubs & cafes. The best place to stay in town has to be The Oxford. The guest house has been voted number one on TripAdvisor and definitely lives up to its reputation. The Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch is a must do when visiting. Provincetown is situated at the furthermost point of Cape Cod, but is well worth the trip. Like Key West in Florida, Provincetown is home to a large gay community as well as artists and writers and this is reflected in the lively atmosphere of the town. Near the harbour area many of the houses are painted in bright colours and designs,and shops sell prints,trinkets,incense etc giving the place a 'hippy' feeling. However although I thought Provincetown was a great place for a visit, my main aim was to go on a wale watching trip. Boats leave throughout the morning and early afternoon (weather permitting).
