Quebec ... Ontario, James Bay and Hudson Bay. To the north are the Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay, to the east the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the provinces of New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador, and to the south the United States (the states of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine). It also shares maritime borders with the Territory of Nunavut and the provinces of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Kenauk is a reserve close to the Chateau Montebello half way between Montreal and Ottawa. Being Canadian Pacific/Fairmont devotees, we became aware of the resort a few years ago, and when we were planning our trip to the Montreal Grand Prix thought it would be a fantastic contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city, so we started to look into staying there for 3 nights. Kenauk does not operate like other Fairmont hotels/resorts as the occupants of any cabin have first refusal for the same cabin the following year, so although we started making enquiries about 2 years before our trip we were biting our nails until late the previous year before we were sure we had ... While its true Quebec is one of the 10 provinces of Canada, it has long since fought for it?s independence. It thrives on its separatist way of thinking. Yet apart of Canada it remains for about 134 years (since Canada was formed into a country). Quebec?s first language is French and English takes second place, whereas the rest of Canada has English as is primary language. Therein lies the basis for the feud. If you are planning to visit this beautiful, scenic, interesting and controversial province be prepared to read street signs, order from the menu and ask directions in French. I don’t know why I started to write this opinion but for the fact that I’ve recently returned to work after the long (and not so hot) summer and feel the need to plan my half-term holiday and a cold(er) break. It does help with the sanity somehow, as you can appreciate (the holiday that is - not the temperature)!
