It is the third largest metropolitan area in Brazil and the capital of Pernambuco. Recife is also where the Beberibe River meets the Capibaribe River to flow into the Atlantic Ocean. It is a major port on the Atlantic Ocean. Recife is served by Guararapes International Airport.

 ... Galinhas. With clear and warm waters, it was very hard to take the flight back to Sao Paolo to them go back to London. You can actually fly into Recife with BA.I recommend this part of Brazil to everyone!...more

Recife Is the capital of the North East Brazilian state called Pernanbuco. It is city of nearly 2millions of inhabitants, with more than 10 kilometres of beaches. My review is on Recife and the colonial city of Olinda, which is 10 km away from Recife. I visited Recife before the Carnival, when the city has its own Carnival and stayed in the part called Boa Viagem, a rich and posh neighborhood . The best thing to do is to go to the beach, and in the evening we went to the main square to watch concerts. Recife was built as a port city along tropical, white-sand beaches lined with palm trees. It is the capital of the northeastern state of Pernambuco. Recife is a fast-growing urban area that has been called the "Venice of Brazil" because it is dissected by numerous waterways and connected by many bridges. The city got its name from the coral reefs that line the coast. Local fishermen go out into the high seas in jangadas, crude log rafts with beautiful sails unique to the area, that require expert navigational skills to maneuver.
