Advantages: The best night life - ever.

Disadvantages: A depressing scrubland scenery.

Aren't holiday destinations supposed to be beautiful? I used to think so, and indeed, a lot of the island of Rhodes is absolutely stunning. However, if you are looking for beauty, don't go to Faliraki. The landscape...how to describe it?...try imagining a cross between a desert and Dartmoor, with about as many hills.

Its not all bad, though. I have only just come back (summer 2000) from a two week holiday with JMC in Faliraki and I had a brilliant time. While the scenery doesn't really inspire, the social life does. For example. There is this great big long road called Bar Street, containing - yes, you guessed it - bars, back to back. The music is loud, the freebies and offers are overwhelming, and the atmosphere is fantastic. With Faliraki being such a British location (how many local English football teams did we see running around with their shirts off? But maybe that's a good thing...) you'd think there might be some typical British fights, but I did not see a single one. People dance everywhere - on the tables, on the bars, in the street. You can just walk down the road and pick somewhere which is playing your type of music, and then move 5 metres and be in a totally different bar. There is something for everyone. If you like trance, friendly bar staff, LOTS of tables/bars etc. to dance on and a really friendly atmosphere, then Oscar's Bar comes highly recommended.

And then there is Club Street...

If you are thinking of going to Rhodes then Faliraki is worth considering but only for the night life. The rest of the island - Rhodes town, or Lindos, for example - is breathtakingly beautiful, and I'm sure the nights are good there, too. I would recommend Faliraki to anyone who wants their nights to be the centre of their holiday, and puts fun over beauty.

I went Faliraki in April and its alot quieter, you'd probably apreciate Rhodes Town and Lindos much more if it wasn't so packed.

I visited Faliraki last year and my first impression was 'Sunny Blackpool', however there was no bother and lots of people who were all very friendly.

I would not have managed the cobble of Lindos too well after a few beers..that's for sure.
