Advantages: beautiful scenery, diving off the boats

Disadvantages: can be overcrowded

I loved Rhodes Town.
I'll talk about things other people haven't mentioned I think;
There are loads of boat trips from the harbour, and they are a lot cheaper to buy on your own,than through your holiday rep.
Boat trips to Lindos; take bloody hours, the scenery is ok, but it all gets a bit boring after a while. Then you don't get long in Lindos, I think you're better off taking the busas Lindos is worth a longer visit.
Boat trips that sail around and stop off at bays: Fantastic, but SHOP AROUND!!! watch these boats leave in the mornings, and choose your boat this way. Some boats leave the harbour so tightly packed that no-one can sunbathe or get a decent seat, and some looked dangerously overloaded. We got a really nice boat that had a strict max. capacity, and included snorkel equipment, and lunch. One of the best trips ever!
Boat trips to Marmaris; don't do it (unless you love shopping in sauna-like conditions).
To Symi; ok, but again very hot and not a lot to do when you get there.But the herbs they sell are divine!
So go have fun on the boats!
Compulsary visit: Tsambika Bay; beautiful clean, shallow sandy beach, get the bus!
