Saint TropezNewest Review: ... very expensive. I gather that it first became to be discovered, as somewhere special, by Guy de Maupassant and became the place to be seen in the twenties. It's still very much like that today. There is a lot of people watching going on. It's great to sit in one of the waterside restaurants seeing if you can recognise anyone classed as famous. Mind you it is also nice to get on your best gear and walk about being noticed! A suntan, slinky dress and you too can be one of the 'famous' ones, well in your own mind at least. Topless and bottomless on Pampelonne Beach, a cool drink at the ready, plenty of sun-oil and wonderful sunshine. What more could anyone want from a holiday? Well I suppose I can think of a few other 'essentials'!! But for now I'll just think of having a cool swim, this should keep my mind on track - well for a while at least. To me Saint Tropez conjures up wonderful images of a jet-set resort, luxury yachts and the rich and famous. I suppose it is still like this but I am told that it's hey day was back in the late fifties and early sixties in the Brigitte Bardot era. My Dad says she was something special. St Tropez has a reputation as the playground of the rich and famous ...and it is...but that doesn't mean that you have to be to join them. The main Marina is full of million + yachts with pride of place to those moored along the quay by the restaurants. Must be one of the few marinas where the quayside is carpeted! People watching here is the key. Stroll up and down past these floating palaces and dream. Watch the girls on their beats wandering up and down hoping to be noticed and invited on board.
