San AntonioNewest Review: ... up with thousands of extra lights. Market Square area Supposedly the authentic side of San Antonio, but then full of tourists. Apart from a couple of good restaurants the main reason for coming down here is to shop around the numerous indoor shops selling Mexican souvenirs. Don't be surprised however to find many of them selling the same stuff. Still, good fun for an afternoon shop followed by a strong margarita! (See also Food and Drink). Tower of the Americas Built in 1968 the Tower of the Americas is pretty hard to miss on the San Antonio skyline, not really surprising as it?s one of the biggest in America. Not that I should, or want, to paint San Antonio in a bad picture - far from it, its my favourite North American city. Its just a week is perhaps a little too long off season. I will explain. But San Antonio also has the Riverwalk, a fantastic area where you can shop, dine or just stroll along the river that runs through the middle of town. Simply fantastic and the food you can get in these places is a great mix of mexican and tex mex, to suit all tastes and budgets. San Antonio also has a variety of shopping malls which I always like to visit when I ... Read the complete review

I visited San Antonio in November 1997 when I stayed with my Uncle in Fort Worth, near Dallas. It was very enjoyable, we visited the Alamo, which is the site of a famous battle, which was very interesting. We also visited an amazing shopping mall with a river running right through the middle of it! You could go for a ride on a narrowboat through an area which many Americans dubbed "Little Venice", as it has lots of nivce restaurants and was lit up to stunning effect at night. This shopping centre had lots of great shops and an IMAX cinema, which we visited, and it was great! ... Read the complete review
