In May this year my parents, my husband and myself embarked on a holiday encompassing a stay in the states of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida in the United States. I am very interested in the American Civil War, so the focus of ?my? journey was Charleston, where the first gun of the Civil War was fired on Fort Sumter ? April 12th 1861. I once had to go to Orlando for a trade show and, having "done" the Florida bit on a previous occasion (see another review), we decided to spend a weekend further north. This was helped by the fact that we had friends who lived near Savannah with whom we spent a few days. The thing most noticeable about the drive was the damage that had been left by the previous week's hurricane. Most obvious were the bill boards which the US seem to tolerate more readily than us.
