Newest Review: ... Mr Miage, There were no dramatic slow motion final fight scenes, but I did keep my eye on one friendly dodderer for some time afterwards. Our first guided day in Shanghai took us to the 'Old Town' area of YuYuan with Chris - the third guide for us on the break so far but still only the two of us, a driver and a guide on any trip we'd taken across the whole holiday. This gave us more freedom ... more

Crowned Review Shanghai: The Woolpack and Me. (2825 words)

Waking up in an incredibly comfortable giant bed under an unfeasibly incapacitating duvet at 7.50am when you are still slightly jetlagged and are supposed to be meeting a human metronome in the hotel foyer for your airport transfer at 8am is, ordinarily, the precursor to frantic ungainly lolloping around a hotel room, checking every drawer just one more time just to absolutely convince yourself you didn't hide anything astonishingly valuable underneath the King James'. This ritual is made more exhausting when you've spent the past 2 nights in a suite with 5 rooms. The flat in which I live only has a total of 6 rooms (7 including the 'magic cupboard'). ...  Read the complete review

Shanghai is a cosmopolitan city in China. It is also the largest city in China with a population of over 20 million people. I was in Shanghai for work a few years ago. Shanghai surprises me with its magnificent skyscraper and a super highway that goes up to five levels. Though amazed, I was reminded that Shanghai was a cosmopolitan city in the 19th century. Shanghai is situated at mouth of the Yangtze River in the central eastern coast. Shanghai means on the top of the ocean. Shanghai experience four distinct seas with the lowest winter temperature dropping below freezing in the night and summer is warm and humid with occasional thunderstorms. ...  Read the complete review

Shanghai, a place full of violence, chaos, and cussing (687 words)

Shanghai, a place full of violence, chaos, and cussing. I visit Shanghai every 3-4 years to see my dear maternal grandmother whom lives very close to the famous Nanking Road in the Jinan District. For those who don’t know this area, it is not only a tourist but also a fairly wealthy area. One can easily find people from all over the world walking around Nanking Road. My experience in Shanghai has worsened over the years – this trip being THE WORST. First of all, people are extremely rude. It is ironic that when I left Pudong Airport, there were big billboards indicating the friendliness of Shanghai city and people. “Shanghai Welcome You” and “Welcome to ...  Read the complete review

Shanghai, is a very beautiful city in China. The people are polite and well-educated. I was there during Christmas last year and i feel very cold. probably i was from the tropical climate region, so was not so used to the cold weather. We even visited a remote countryside called "chou zong", it is also called 'water village'. A lot of artist visit this place to paint and relax. The whole village is like an amusment park. in the daytime, people will dress up and play their village role. however, during the night time, they will leave. we stayed in one of the villagers' house and find their heater is just a warmer. I guess this village is better for summer. there ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Silks in Shanghai (310 words)

I've just returned from a tour of China including a stop in Shanghai. This is a busy bustling city with a commercial centre like Canary Wharf, MacDonalds burger bars, and a fabulous Peace Hotel for that decadent cocktail in a roof garden like something from a Bogart movie. Between the commercial buildings bustle small street markets selling silk scarves for $2 and puppies for $10. If you're looking for a good blouse or shirt take a trip to Silk King (near the Peace Hotel. This is a huge store containing some of the finest silks and other materials. Here you can be measured for any item of clothing by professional tailor and what they lack in English they ...  Read the complete review
