I loved Sri Lanka especially after going to Goa the year before, if it's a choice between the two Sri Lanka Would win hands down. We arrived in the early morning about 6am, the airport is beautiful and the walk to bus under the flower draped pergola was fantastic. The porters at the airport just beware they are very greedy and to move your bag from the side of the bus into the luggage compartment expect a pound and will get on the bus until you pay. Some of the hotels are nearly 3 hours from the airport so be careful when booking, ours was only 30 minutes we stayed at the club hotel dolphin.

The beaches are fantastic they are the strangest colour I have seen, it's like a dark orange sand but they are beautiful. The trips on offer are affordable, elephant orphanage, Sigria Rock and various temples and village trips.

We used a friendly taxi driver outside the hotel to take us shopping, they drive you there, wait and take you back. We were out nearly 5 hours one day and they charged £8.00!!! It is a great place to buy gold and clothes. We went out there to have our wedding rings made and they did a fantastic job for the price. We also had the wedding suits made for the men, they cost £60 each for Prince Edward style. They were all made to measure and took 4 days to make.

Summary

The place is fantastic and the locals are so friendly, there is so much to see you really need two weeks. It is defiantly a place we would visit again.
