St. Louis is one of those cities where everyone lives in the suburbs, everyone washes their cars on sundays, Football is a mans only game and the bigger the car the better. I have family living in St. Louis and have visited them a number of times since I was a child. They always take great pleasure in showing me the Arch and the museem all about the arch. There are a couple of things that spring to mind when you say St.Louis - Baseball and Beer - for it is the home of Anheuser-Busch makers of Budweiser and the Cardinals baseball team. Both are on the 'must see & do' list everytime you visit. There are however, many more things of note in St.Louis. I would recommend: The Gateway Arch - go up it and take in the museum and cinema showings Laclede's Landing - great place to eat, drink and party Busch stadium - home of the Cardinals baseball team Union Station and St.Louis Center for shopping If it is August-January try and grab a football game at the TWA dome or an Ice Hockey game ... St Louis is a wonderful place to travel to or even to live in. We spent 2 years living there and have visited several times since our return. There are lots of things to see and do, and I would rate it as a child friendly city. St Louis Zoo is completely free and takes a good day to see everything. They work very hard at keeping the animals in as natural an environment as possible. The Gateway arch is a fascinating place for older children. The Arch representing Lewis and Clarks expedition to the West. Forest Park is one of the largest parks in St. Louis, and is wonderful to have a barbecue in or just while away a few hours.
