The most southerly part of Sweden is called Skåne which until 1678 was a part of Denmark rather than Sweden. Due to this people from Skåne have a more Danish than Swedish accent, which is often described as sounding as though they are speaking with a mouthful of porridge!! My ... more

My boyfriend and I currently live in Sweden and for 7 days this summer we decided to head off on an adventure driving and camping along the south coast of Sweden. I have a trusty Rough Guide book of Sweden which has been like a bible whilst living here, as I am constantly referring to it. Before we left for our trip I had a read through to check which places we should visit along the way, but other than that we had no idea of where we would be going and what we would see…. So come and join us on our 'Southern Sweden Adventure 2005' as we seemed to keep calling it for some reason!! **Day 1** We were supposed to set off early but after we ...  Read the complete review

OK...how are the swedish people... First of all I will slaughter some of the prejudices of the swedish people. First of all I can say they are NOT the land of sin but I agree they have a more liberal point of view for sex. According to my experiences I can say several other countries who is more hypocritical in their wat of behaving which ends with a lot of teenage pregnancy and similar stuff. Second they are one of the countries in the liquid belt (japan, russia, finland, norway and scotland) which means according to the older way of drinking they drank to be drunk (I mean really drunk) even if they start to get more continental with these ...  Read the complete review

So what did I think of Sweden ***************************** In a word, beautiful. In many words I will describe further :-) The most noticable thing for me was just how nice everything was. The naturally beautiful surroundings and beautiful fields as far as the I can see were truly a sight to behold. The startling lack of vandalism also took my attention. In Chester where I live and I suspect the majority of Britain (99%) Vandalism is a ...  Read the complete review

What do most people think about, when they hear Sweden? Probably Stockholm, Gothenburg, for sure beautiful women and men. however, there's also another side to sweden, off the beaten track, so to speak. Take Leksand on Lake Siljan, which is for sure one of the nicest lakes in sweden. All around the lake you can find idyllic small villages that offer an unique view over the lake. Across the lake from Leksand, you will find Mora. probably not too many have yet heard about Mora, but most of you probably know the famous Vasa Löpet, a 90-sth. km cross country ski race. and in Mora the finish line can be found, along with an interesting museum related to the history ...  Read the complete review
