SwitzerlandNewest Review: ... want to end this on a negative so I'll move on. The only cheap thing that I found in Switzerland compared to other places in Europe was the petrol. It's well worth spending the money though as Switzerland has alot to offer. Generally the people in the German speaking section are friendlier than those in the French speaking sections. It is about an 8 - 10 hour drive from Calais to ... more |

I am writing a review which will focus mainly on the ski village of Grindlewald in Switzerland, but I will also be mentioning Luzurn, Zurich and Geneve. I have visited Grindlewald 3 times and stayed there twice. I think that it is a place that is well worth visiting. Grindlewald is about 2 hours drive from Zurich or Berne. It is 15 minutes drive up the mountain from Interlaken. Grindlewald is also accessable by train, but you will need to change trains in Interlaken. Grindlewald is in the German speaking part of Switzerland, but most people speak English very well. There are two other villages close to Grindlewald, they are Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. They are ... Last year i went on a tour around Europe.I visited seven countries and i do have to say that Switzerland was the worst, and it ruined my holiday a little. It was couch tour and it was with Contiki, but i can't remember because that was how horrible it was. Anyway i was treated badly in Zermat and Zurich because in that very backwards country people treat you differently if your colour of skin is different.I would walk down the streets and teenagers would be lauoghing at me and pointing, and one filthy old man even could me a very rude name whilst i was taking pictures. It was horrible. There were many other incidents too. I am British Born black female and ... Read the complete review

We wanted something a little bit different when we went on our honeymoon last year. We were fed up with the standard European beach resort full of other English people. However, we were also somewhat limited in budget; we didn't have three grand to blow on a mega holiday after paying for the wedding. In the end we found a 3 centre Glacier Express rail tour in Switzerland offered by Crystal Holidays. This was 10 days split between 3 resorts all half board. It promised a relaxing holiday with great scenery and the opportunity to see several different places. Another key thing about this tour was that it was only semi-organised. This meant that we would ... Read the complete review

As proud as I am to be English, whenever I go to Switzerland I am more and more impressed by their logicality. Or maybe I am unimpressed by our illogicality, I'm not sure. In Switzerland, if you catch a train to a town or city, you end up in the middle of that town or city. In England, if you catch a train to a town or city, you tend to end up in a train station which usually happens to be quite a walk or bus journey from the actual destination. Why? Isn't it logical to be able to jump off a train and come out on one of the main roads of where you want to be? Surely it makes more sense, and what's more, it encourages the public to use their public ... Read the complete review

Switzerland is not a place to be forgotten once visited. The pleasant citizens and the cleanliness of the streets are striking. It is a great shame to have to come home to the cluttered and dirty streets of Glasgow. I have been to Switzerland twice now, and thouroughly enjoyed both visits. The first was in summer and the second was in winter. As a nation they appear to be prepared for everything. They are highly organised. The service at the camp site was brilliant, the transport first rate, the road system first class and the shops well stocked. I do not kid, the best part of the holiday was to go to a local chocolate shop. It was ... Read the complete review
