A two day trip in Tahiti (Tahiti)

Sure, Tahiti is a wonderful destination on it's own, but most tourists just stop there in their way to other great Polynesian islands, like Moreea, Bora Bora etc.
So if you are here, in Tahiti, for only a short amount of time, you need to plan things right, so you'll get the most of your trip.

First thing first: the location. If you are on Tahiti for only 1 or 2 days, you need to be very near to everything interesting, that means Papeete (the capital city) and the airport.
Sheraton Tahiti might be a good choice (see my review on the hotel as well). It is located near the airport and town, and offers all the comfort you might need.

Considering you have a 2 day stay in Tahiti, this is what i would suggest you to do.

For your first day, go to Papeete. It is a nice little town, full of shops and restaurants, with a great view of the ocean.
Buy a floral print shirt or dress. Visit the crafts market for some hand-made local souvenirs, carved shells or anything you might like. Visit the Pearl Market, located in the center of Papeete, for 3 flours of beautiful (and expensive) pearls. The first flour gathers exceptional, expensive designer jewelery. The second one is more budget friendly, and the third flour you get to buy loose pearls, to pick each one of them by your self, and to get them mounted in gold or silver if you want.

Evening time, you can dine to Belvedere restaurant, situated high on a cliff, with a beautiful view of Papeete town and it's harbor.

The second day, already covered the town, i would suggest you to book with a tour operator for an island tour. Sure, it's fun to go around the island by yourselves, in a rental car, but with short time, maybe it is best to be lead to all the important places. The tours usually go from 9 to 15, and you will see natural beauties (parks full of different exotic plants, the botanical garden, waterfalls etc) and also the Gauguin museum. For lunch, the best option it is the restaurant near the museum, from where you can see Tahiti Iti, the small peninsula along Tahiti.

At 15, the tour operator bring you back to your hotel. That is the time when most of the tourists have to go to their main destination, so of you go to the airport! Hope you will have a great time in Tahiti!
