Visitors visiting Malaysia should not miss visiting this town. The town itself has plenty of history. It was built in the 19th century when tin ore was discovered in this region. The first railway in Malaysia was built from this town to the port. Apart from the rich history, the Lake Garden is one of the best scenery in Malaysia. There you will find plenty of man made lakes as a result of the tin industry a long time ago. You will find people from all walks of life relaxing there in the evening. Taiping Lake Garden is the popular garden for the local residents. About one hundred years ago or so, it was a tin mine which is owned by the Chinese immigrants. Then, it has become a recreation area for the locals as well as the tourists. It has a fascinating view. The lakes has a background of mountains, with one ever flowing water fall (during rainy seasons, you can see several small ones), and surrounded by a meandering road which is laced by a row of 'rain trees' with furry pinkish flower pulps and their branches reaching the lakes like giant hands.
