Taiping Lake Garden is the popular garden for the local residents. About one hundred years ago or so, it was a tin mine which is owned by the Chinese immigrants. Then, it has become a recreation area for the locals as well as the tourists. It has a fascinating view. The lakes has a background of mountains, with one ever flowing water fall (during rainy seasons, you can see several small ones), and surrounded by a meandering road which is laced by a row of 'rain trees' with furry pinkish flower pulps and their branches reaching the lakes like giant hands. The trees are about one hundred years old!

The lakes are full of fishes. In the evening, you can see some kids fishing by the lakes and keep their catch in either a plastic pail or plastic bags.

There is a little jetty there where you can rent a canoe and have
your nice time under the hot sun!

Right in the middle of the lake, it is where you find the second largest zoo in Malaysia - Taiping Zoo. Here you can find some colourful tropical birds and of course our friends - Orang Utan which can only be found in Borneo Island.
