Advantages: The people, safari

Disadvantages: Poor standards of hygience, extreme poverty!!

Africa is never somewhere that has been on my wish list especially Tanzania the closest I have ever come to Africa before my trip there was a visit to Tenerife and thinking I am closer to Africa than Spain!!!!

But getting the chance to go to the country has been life changing. The place is out of this world and an experience I would recommend to anyone. First of all if you want luxcury don't come here .. IT'S A THIRDWOLRD COUNTRY! If you are looking for that sort of thing Dubai or America is the thing. Africa offers true beauty and humility something that money can't buy. Before visiting Tanzania luxury was everything to me after... well its all about experience now and it has changed me forever!!

Spent two weeks out here in total 8 days doing charity work 2 days purely traveling and 4 days on safari...

Safari to Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater simply amazing; lions, rhinos, elephants the list goes on, it was like watching a BBC documentary. I am not an emotional person at all but I actually cried as the whole experience was overwhelming!!

Travel was poor but expected road network is poor (but expected) from north Tanzania (moshi) to Kenya (Nairobi ) took 12 hours on a private tour bus as the roads are so bumpy. They are simply terrifying , road courtesy means nothing and if you think the m25 at rush hour is bad its simply tame in comparison. Hotels are basic even 4* hotels are just ok so don't expect the Ritz!! What you have to remember is to people living here ruuning water is a luxury therefore when you moan about little things they wont have loads of sympathy.

Take plenty of mozzi spray, drink bottled water, don't eat too much exoctic stuff and take Imodium . And speak to the locals they are so friendly ... in the more touristy areas they do take advantage but if you have the opportunity to visit a more rural village do it.. its amazing!!! ... its so different to the Uk and I would recommend to anyone to try it even if you love your home comforts like myself!

Summary: a once in the lifetime experience
