Sometimes you feel you can almost touch the stars which are the brightest I have ever seen. ACCOMMODATION was not as bad as we had expected, just be prepared and you will be fine. The Chinese invasion of Tibet began in 1949 and led to the flight of Tibets spiritual leader the Dalai Lama 10 years later. There are now over 100,000 Tibetans in exile, mostly in India and Nepal. 1.2m Tibetans have died as a result of the Chinese occupation and over 6,000 monasteries have been destroyed.
