I must admit to being confused as to why Tin Can Bay has the name it does. Obviously whoever named the Bay had not done any of the modern marketing degrees available from your nearest Post Office, or else a name like “Paradise Bay” or “Beautiful Bay” probably would have been used. Perhaps the locals, hoping to scare off any tourists and thereby keeping this little gem to themselves, named it. Perhaps Captain James Cook himself stopped near here on his way up the Queensland Coast (Australia) and while enjoying a few cold ones amused himself by throwing the empties over the side.
