Advantages: Close proximity to Ali-cante

Disadvantages: Commercialised

Hello been on holiday several times to Torrevieja now. It is located on the Costa Blanca around a 30 minutes drive from Ali-cante. Torrevieja originlly started life as a salt mining town which can be seen still been seen from quite a few large salt flats surrounding the area with salt still being mined.

This is a busy sea-side city. There is a large market every day on the sea-front in Ali-cante centre. Also there are several local markets further out of town for a more authentic spanish feel. The night life here is excellent with a road known as the Street of Bars which is rumoured to be a mile long. Also more local style drinking holes can be found just off the beaten track.

There is a vast aray of restaraunts here serving everything from paella to pizza and waffles. There is a fairly commercialised feel to the city with a lot set out in mind of the tourist despite this within 30 minutes you can be away from all this and walking round an authentic spanish market.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle and other tourists simply pulling off the road at a cliff-top somewhere along the main road into Torrevieja will more often than not find a path down to a little known about beach

Accomodation here is of an excellent standard and value the last time we went we stayed at the Hotel Torrejoven which i think worked out as £45 per night split between two.

Local transport here in the way of buses can be a bit eratic and if looking to explore i would say the best way would to be to hire a car or motorcycle. Quite a few hire companies will pick you up directly from the airport by minibus and take you direct to your vehicle.

Overall a very vibrant city with plenty to see and do whether you want to spend time on the beach or spend time in the vast aray of shops the city centre offers.

Addition:- As mentioned in the comments one-way system in town was a bit of a nightmare however we mostly avoided this after the first time round by either getting a taxi which is easy enough or walking around which is why i forgot to mention when first writing review.

Summary: All round well worth a visit

I have been here a couple of times - I found the beaches pretty ordinary and the one way system in town made driving fun and games.
