best holiday destination I have ever been to! (Tunisia)

Advantages: gorgeous beaches

Disadvantages: you can sometimes get hassled a bit whilst shopping

Tunisia is a fantastic country! We stayed in Port El Kantaoui which is a gorgeous tourist area at the centre of which is a large marina with yachts and boats which is beautiful to walk round. There are a lot of open air restaurants and shops to wander around and it is also very close to the beach which is amazing - it goes on for miles! Whilst in Tunisia we also visited Sousse which was an experience! We were caught out by a "helpful" man who wanted to show us the way to the only government run shop in Sousse but actually took us to his fathers leather and carpet shop which was very scary as they do not take no for an answer! Once we had gotten out of the shop we went straight back to the hotel and only went back to Sousse once we made sure that the taxi driver had dropped us off outside the door of the shop we wanted! We also went to Tunis for the day whilst we were there which was a really long trip and there wasnt really much to do when you got there. If you are good at haggling in the Medinas it may be worth going but thats not really our thing! We also went out for a Berber night which was a meal in a Berber tent with traditional food, music, dancing and strong man acts. Outside there were fire eaters and horse riders doing stunts - that was a really good night! Thankfully we were sat at the back so weren't called up as volunteers! Tunisia was a brilliant holiday, I first went in February and the weather was gorgeous! It must have topped 28 degrees? I have also been back in July and we were told the temperature had gone over 34! I would definitely recommend Tunisia as a place to go, especially with the current problems with the pound and euro! Tunisia has its own currency which cannot be taken in or out of the country so is very strong.
