Providenciales or Provo is an island in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is one of eight small islands that make up the TCI and the only one I've visited (so far). I stayed in Grace Bay. I got off the plane at Providenciales Airport into a muggy wave of humidity carrying my backpack with me. I try to keep as placid as possible in airports especially in small ones packed full of Americans. But anyway, it's the Caribbean. Chill. There was air conditioning where I was staying; even so I still had to flip the pillow occasionally to get the cool side. Right outside were jetty style planks leading to the beach. I saw this place on the television a couple of months before I went there. I think it was Angela Rippon, walking around on one of the beaches and you couple really tell she wasn’t lying that this place was gorgeous. She sold the island to me immediately. As I was getting married I thought what a perfect excuse, lets go and see if it was as nice as the T.V programme made it out to be. We flew out in July, which incidentally is the off season. As the aeroplane was coming into land, you couldn’t really see the island at all as it was covered in a misty fog. I immediaty thought along with the other passengers, what have we done?
