Advantages: Lots To Do, Many Shops, Loads Of Different Restaurants, F1 Racing, Science Park

Disadvantages: Thieves + Crime, Too Many 'El Corte Ingles' Shopping Centres

Valencia is quite a large city on the north of the Costa Blanca coastline. It's famous for it's Valencian Paella, which is a typical Spanish dish and the Valencia-style one is made with chicken as opposed to sea food for example. Valencia has now hosted the F1 racing championships at the new circuit too. I visited Valencia last summer to go to the F1 as it was the first time being held in Valencia and it was an excellent experience but watch out for thieves if you ever do go! They are very professional and you need to be really careful.

The city itself is quite large and has a whole host of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as other attractions. The easiest way to get to Valencia is either by car (if you can park) or by train, which comes from the south as far as Gandia. The train isn't expensive and doesn't take too long. You can also get trains out of Valencia with the Renfe company to places such as Barcelona and Madrid.

The main large shopping centre you will find in Valencia has to be El Corte Ingles. It's literally everywhere and it's huge too - it's like having 50 Selfridges in London. Every store is pretty much the same but there is one that has certain departments such as electronics and computing, which the others don't have. I'd compare it to Selfridges as their clothes are preimium designer ones and the prices aren't cheap. There are many other shops including Zara, Pull And Bear, Springfield, Jack N Jones and many more.

There are so many restaurants in Valencia including all types such as Italian, Spanish, Mediterranean, American, Chinese and Indian as well as others. There are many cafes too including the great Starbucks, which isn't so great for prices but it's a nice addition to the city. You can also get typical Spanish tapas at certain places, which is a variety of quality small dishes and you usually order several dishes to share. There are other attractions in Valencia too including the Science Park, which contains the Oceanographic including sea creatures and there is also a large theatre and more things to visit along with an IMax theatre. I'd highly recommend visiting Valencia but be careful with your valuables, especially on the metro as it's not the safest place!

Thanks for reading,

Dan ©
