Advantages: beautiful city, tranquillity, no cars and traffic

Disadvantages: too many tourists, polluted sea

I went to Venice many times (I'm Italian, you konw?) and my love for this city increase every time. It's e very beautiful place, for its monuments (St.Marco square is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen!) but not only. For the descriptions of the monuments you can read a guide, but I want to tell you what I is most important for me. I think that the most charactesistic feature of Venice is the atmosphere and the feelings that it gives to you. The tranquillity of the lanes, the bridges that connect the city and the sea are very impressive. You can't see any car, there isn't traffic or deafening noise! It seems to be in another world. Besides every small place of this town can be fantastic, and you can find a surprising place in every part of the city, even if in your turistic guide there isn't anything about it. For these reasons I like to walk across Venice aimlessly, joining the city atmosphere. I could do it for days.


Yet there are some bad features. Some parts of the city aren't very clean, and the sea is very polluted. Moreover often there are too many tourists, that break the tranquillity I love so much, and the shops are too expensive (it's normal for a touristic city).
Unfortunately Venice have a bad problem: the rising level of the sea, that often is too high. Many days some streets are flooded, and it threaten the survival of the old city. The water could make many damage to the buildings.


Completely different is the "new" Venice, grown out of the lagoon. It's a terrible modern city, with car, pollution and traffic. You should avoid it, and I don't want to write about it, because there isn't anything good to say!


I think that if you go to Italy, you must visit Venice, because it's a beautiful city like Rome or Florence, but it's unique! A city that you can understand only by visiting it. All the documentary cannot explain it. And don't forg
