Newest Review: ... so above the town to get superb views, but to be honest the beauty lies beyond Voss itself. There are a number of standard tours that can be booked from Voss that take in the beautiful sites - probably the most famous being the Flam railway. We however chose to hire a car for the day. The cost was not cheap (£68) but that is less than the price of a couple of tickets on one of the larger organised tours (eg Norway in a Nutshell). If you like driving it is a good investment. The roads around Voss were extremely good and your fellow drivers excellent - so driving was a pleasure. It meant that you could visit whatever places took your fancy... more |

Voss is a small town in the mountains to the east of Bergen. We reached it as part of a holiday organised by Scantours (highly recommended). That holiday started in Oslo then took us by train to Voss. We only spent a couple of days in Voss - those with the energy to hike and explore could spend very much longer there. Voss is located on the edge os a lake with mountains all around. Those happy to use cable cars can quickly get a hundred metres or so above the town to get superb views, but to be honest the beauty lies beyond Voss itself.
