Most visitors to New York stay in the city and are duly impressed with the magnificent buildings, the museums, restaurants and entertainment that Manhattan has to offer. The ones who venture into the suburbs are often impressed (depending where they go of course) with the many attractions that NY has to offer. If you have friends living in one of these suburbs they can take you to visit the town and point out the different highlights in their community. If you came to Westchester, which is very close to Manhattan, I would recommend renting a car for the day so that you can also include a bit of Connecticut which is near by.
