Advantages: Beside the sea, plenty to do.

Disadvantages: Wash facilities are not to the standard that they could be.

Carnfunock Country Park is situated just outside Larne. It is used by tourists from all around the world, as well as the people from Northern Ireland. It is an ideal place for a Sunday walk, on a nice sunny day, and a great place for camping.

Within the park, there is a campsite. This can hold both caravans and tents. It is a nice private site, concrete areas for the caravans and a grassy spot to place tents. It is surrounded by trees. There are also wash facilities, but from personal experience, these are not exactly the best - a number of people have complained about the standards.

Outside of the camping area, there is also a 9 hole golf course - perfect for those who do not wish to play the full 18 holes in Cairndu (just up the road). This is a great spot for young (or not so young as the case may be) to practice a little golf.

Inside the park there is also a play area for children, consisting of climbing frames and enclosed slides - it is well though out, and appears reasonable safe for children. It is well away from any road.

Within this section there is also a mini golf, and a driving range, which have become very popular over the years.

The Maze is an old favourite, shaped like Northern Ireland, is good fun on a summerrs day. There is also a look out post for those who do not want to go through the Maze, where you can watch others wandering around trying to find the way out!

Carnfunock is noted for its walled gardens, with a pond, and various sundials - not to mention the beautiful plantlife that exists there. It is a beautiful place to walk in, and there are some "trails" for those who want to walk a little - it's nothing too strenuous though!

There is also a little gift shop and coffee shop, selling products made by people from around the Larne area. Be warned though - the coffee shop is quite expensive. Alteratively there are places available for those who would l
ike to cook their own BBQ - this is very popular in the summer months, and many evenings you will find large groups of people out enjoying themselves!

It is a brilliant place for everyone who is interested in the great outdoors!
