Since moving to Aberdeen a few years ago, I have many times visited if not just passing through, the Duthie Park. It is a place all the locals have been to at least once, and is a strong attraction for visitors to Granite City!

Location:
The Duthie Park is situated just off of Garthdee in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. Surrounding the park there are various main roads, with an Asda, a B&Q, and a ski slope near by, not forgetting the university campus too. It's also around ten minutes from the centre of town too, so there are plenty surrounding the beautiful park should you want to wander!

Accessibility:
As I said, there are main roads all round Duthie Park so it is very accessible! It is behind a lot of houses at one end, so for many it is simply an out of the back door park. FOr others though it may be quite a hike, and a car would be best. Thankfully there is a little car park within the park so it is not a problem. There are also a few cycle routes that take you straight into the park too. Thankfully, you can get to this glorious park in many ways so should be suitable for all, especially since they recently lauched a bus service that runs round the streets and picks people up to take them there during Summer!

Amenities:
One thing that makes the park good is its amount of amenities. There is the car park, which does make traveling alot easier. You also have toilets which are easy to access, so you will never be caught short! Then there is a burger van not too far away from the car park so if you get a little hungry, you're sorted!

Highlights:
Of course, people visit Duthie Park for its attractions! Year out you can visit the Winter Gardens, more popularly known by the locals as the Hot House. This warm building is home to many a tropical plant and tree, and even homes wildlife too such as turtles and fish. There is a little cafe nearby too, which is quite nice and cosy. There are two parks - one for older children with a tire swing and the largest slide I have ever seen in a park! The smaller park has some little swings and a see saw, as well as a tractor which has been turned into a climbing frame. In the centre of the park there is a huge field where you can play sports of any kind, or just find a nice dry grassy area, lay down a blanket and relax! The options really are endless!

Price:
The best thing about Duthie Park however is that it is free! To enjoy its beauty all year round, the only price you may have to pay is travel costs. For me it is a simple twenty minute walk, so I dont need to put hand in pocket!

If you are ever visiting Aberdeen, then do not finish your trip without having visited the Duthie Park! It's a must see!
