Ferry Meadows is a 500 acre Park is situated near the river Nene in West Peterborough. Its easily found just off the A1.
Peterborough was designated a new town in 1968, and the park was part of the planning for the new town.
More than 2,000 acres of land was set aside to form the Nene Park, an area of countryside stretching westward along the valley of the river Nene from the city centre to Wansford.
Ferry Meadows is at the heart of the Nene Park, with 500 acres of lakes, woodland, grassland and meadows.
It can be reached by car, public transport, nene valley railway and boat!
Car Parking costs £3.50 from April to November. Mooring is free for 24hrs.
It is open daily all year long.The hours change according to the season(generally dawn to dusk). The Park itself is free to enter.
The parks lakes,watersports centre, meadows, woodlands and play areas make it a favourite day out destination for families. There are also areas for camping and caravanning.
Ferry Meadows attracts in the region of half a million visitors throughout the year.

THroughout the year, Ferry Meadows also hosts numerous events which in the past have included Cancer Research Race for Life, Kite Festival, Raptor Foundation Weekend and Firework Fiesta.
