Advantages: Good Processor
Disadvantages: Hard getting used to Linux if never used before
I only got this very recently and I have to say..Im pretty impressed with it. I bought it from ebay for a bargaining £73.02 and next working day delivery of £10.99. I was pretty impressed with the price.
When it arrived, I was like a little kid.. I couldnt wait to open it. I got it out of the box and placed the battery and started to charrge it. I turned it on and it asked me to personalise it, for example; password, date, time, country, language etc. Within a few minutes I was all ready to begin using the little netbook.
It found the wireless connection within a few seconds and I was online just like that! No mess, no hassle, just very simple!
** The Good **
Handy and portable sized netbook
Found the wireless connection very quickly
Speedy little thing, loads webpages quickly - has a Intel Atom processor N270
Very light, weighs less than 1kg!
8.9" CrystalBrite screen - very crisp and clear
Built in Crystal Eye webcam
Very pretty and comes in a range of colours: white, pink, black, blue and brown
Comes with a multi 5 in 1 card reader
Has an SD card reader
Good battery life of 3 hours
3 USB ports
Quite soft keyboard keys
** The Bad **
Operates on Linux, which differs a pretty lot to Windows and takes a while to get used to
Not as straight forward when putting items on the homepage or installing programmes
Overall I am very impressed with this little beauty and I think once I get used to using Linux, I will be OK! Im getting the hang of things and have managed to download a few things myself from reading online forums and user guides. However, if it wasnt for the online guidance, I would be very stuck and wouldnt have a clue what I should have been doing. Maybe Acer should have provided a few details about using Linux perhaps.
What I am most impressed with is the speed of this little thing. I would say that it can load a webpage as quick as any current laptop. Very impressed. I just need to still figure a few things out about it, but overall very happy with it.
I would say that this laptop would be very good for those not used to using Windows as there are no pre-conceptions of how a cimputer works. The way Linux is set up is very easy to navigate around but can be abit of a pain when you try and use or install something that is not directly and easily accessible.
I would definitely recommed this netbook to anyone who needs to use a computer on the go.
Summary: A Really Good Netbook

- 04/11/09 It's worth persevering with Linux. It's a lot faster than Windows. If you don't like the version of Linux that's installed then you might like to try replacing it with the latest Ubuntu Linux Netbook Remix: http://www.ubuntu.com/get ubuntu/download-netbook I'm told it's much more user-friendly for ex-Windows users. |
