I am writing this review on my ASUS Eee PC right now. Its very easy to get used to, the keyboard looks so small at first. But once you have used it for an hour you will be fine. Going back to a standard size laptop may be overwhelming. The battery power is satisfactory. its size and weight is very useful and can fit in my college bag. A regular sized laptop would be too much to take on the bus. The LCD screen was damaged very easily. I closed the laptop but one of my earphones was between the keyboard. The next day the liquid crystal was split inside the screen and i had to get it replaced. Apart from that its a robust laptop and I have been using it for the best part of 10 months without any major hitches that were due to the laptops design. Overall, a handy laptop and would recommend to anyone on the go.
When i decided to buy a netbook, the decision ended up being between this and the samsung. I chose this and have never regreted it since. The eee pc 1000 is an amazing netbook. The case is rock solid, and you can pick it up safely by the corner of the screen. It looks reasonably nice too, and doesnt look like a toy like some other netbooks. The keyboard is great, it feels suprisingly normal, and the keys have a decent amount of travel. the trackpad is also cool, and supports macbook air-like features, such as the pinchy zoom thing, and 2 finger scroll. The mouse buttons are a bit clicky, but you get used to them. But the best thing about it is the battery life. With all the power saving features turned on, and wifi on, bluetooth off, i get around 5-6 hours of use, which is great. I would also recomend getting this instead on the 1000H, which has a HDD rather than a SSD. basicaly, this one is very resistant to rough use, and can be carryed around without fear of damaging the hard disk. Inside, its the same as any other netbook, but bluetooth and draft-n wireless are good features. But in my opinion, the best thing is the amount of forums dedicated to the eee family of netbooks, and they provide great support with everything. from what OS's it can run well, and what games it can manage.
