Samsung N140 10.1 inch Netbook (Atom N270 1.6GHz Processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, BT, XP Home, 9 Hour Battery, Black)
I needed a netbook that would perform two main roles. One to contain all my documents and emails for work and two to be portable enough to carry in my case.
I did buy and install a 2GB Ram which is really easy to install yourself (just be aware of any impact on your warranty). The screen is a perfectly acceptable 10.1 inches and there was less glare than I had expected.
There are various options you can select when preserving battery life. So, if like me you don't want to take power leads everywhere to go you can set it to use minimum power and as a result can get 8 hours usage (the technical spec says 9 but I get 8)
The keyboard is easy to use and the 'mouse' pad is responsive.
It does not come with a CD / DVD drive but I bought one that plugs into the USB port and works really well. I also purchased a 1T Seagate hard drive which I used to back up my entire netbook should a fault occur (Samsung do recommend a total back up)
Its high shine gloss cover (I got black) does look good but is really vulnerable to finger marks and it comes with a soft shell zip case which really doesn't protect it from anything other than scratches.
The other use I have found is using the itunes home share system between this and my desk top. If you install the air video app you can access all your MP3 videos that you have on your netbook and play them through your itouch or other devise (I use the Magic ripper software to convert my DVD's to MP3), and agin you can use a hard drive attachment as a back up
The only bug bear I have it that when you 'wake it up' after 'hibernation' you ogten lose internet connectivity and need to restart which is annoying if you have documents open.
Overall if you are looking for a small portable netbook with an extended battery life you can't go far wrong with this.
