Advantages: Portable, stable, fast start up and shut down, excellent keyboard.

Disadvantages: Not exactly a powerhouse, bloatware, shiny black casing.

I've had the NC10 since February 2009, I've used it primarily for writing (the keyboard is excellent). I've also done a bit of web design in Expression and photo editing in Photoshop cs3 and also some music production in Ableton Live 6, all with the standard 1GB memory.

My little Sammy has performed flawlessly in the four months I've had it, it's only crashed once as a result of Ableton. Installation and set up was easy, although I had to remove a fair amount of bloatware (macaffee anti virus).

Purchased from www.dixons.co.uk, list price was £309 but with vouchers I was able to get it down to £284, delivery was free and took a couple of days.

The quality of the screen is excellent but initially I was incredibly put off by the restricted screen size, I persevered and eventually found a tip here (http://www.sammynetbook.com/plugins/forum/forum_v iewtopic.php?4356).
This allows you to increase the screen resolution which in some cases means having to move the screen around but it is a lot easier than opening, closing and resizing windows within various applications.

Sound Quality of the onboard audio through headphones (Beyer DT770's) is pretty good, although there is some popping and crackling which is to be expected, this can reduced considerably by switching the Realtek card to 44.1Khz.

All in all an excellent machine, but don't expect to be editing video, battery life does indeed last the quoted seven hours even using the excellent wifi. My only criticisms are the molly coddling bloatware and the shiny black casing which always looks greasy, matte would've been much preferable.

Summary: Excellent machine for on the move, handles most tasks, if a little slower than a full size machine.

When I bought it, dixons had two offers on, 5% off all netbooks which I got from myvouchercodes.co.uk and a 2.5% reduction for january sales which I got off a forum that escapes me know. The moral of the story search, search and search again, there's reductions to be had.
