I purchased the Sony Vaio pink netbook last week following a little winfall. I used online discount codes to get about 8% off this little beauty!
I did a lot of research before plumping for it - compared to cheaper notebooks and did all the top trumps with the vital statistics. I decided this one was the one for me as it has a decent amount of memory and performs quickly when teamed up with broadband.
First of all the colour. It is pink so immediately ruled out by most men and most woment too but for me that makes it oh so better. I was fearful that it might be a nasty pink when it arrived (I ordered online) but fear not fellow pink fans. It is a metallic raspberry pink on the outside and a toned down pink (almost white) on the keyboard with complimentary toned pink mouse pad.
On to the nitty gritty. This, in line with other netbooks has no disc drive, so you are down to usb ports for memory sticks really. It has got a memory card slot so you can easily do your pictures from digi camera. You have to rely on websites to download programmes ... but isn't that what we all do nowadays anyway???
You will get warnings about downloading virus software but I was going to do mine from a free website, turns out it had mcafee on it anyway so don't pay £30 upwards for something you don't need.
Oh, another good feature on this is the keyboard which has good sized keys for typing etc. They have left out a few extra keys than a standard keyboard but it works well with what's on offer.
The screen is 10.1 cm which, if you're wanting a netbook is a good thing. I find using the F11 key when you're on the page you want is helpful for making things a bit more visible.
The overall news on this nifty little gadget is that it is light and compact and most of all cute. A good make like Sony is to be trusted. I was weighing up one that was a bit cheaper (by £50) but decided the extra spend was well worth it.
The only downside to this netbook is the battery life. I get about 2hrs out of a fully charged battery - there were other ones on the market that were better in this respect. You can easily buy another battery though, so it's not the end of the world - they just clip on the back so no fiddling required.
PS. Have had to keep removing it from DH who can't seem to put it down!!
The handy VAIO W-series is light, compact and easy to carry. Its rounded design feels comfortable to hold while rugged styling protects from knocks and shocks.
Carefully designed isolation keyboard with precise key spacing prevents typing errors, even with long fingernails. The textured palm rest offers gentle wrist support - ideal when web browsing from the sofa or blogging while commuting.
Photos and videos are brought vividly to life in sharp detail and vibrant color on a high quality X-black LCD. Maximum space for web browsing, blogging and everyday computing on the extra wide 10.1" screen with 16:9 aspect ratio.
You can hold your favorite photos, videos, music and other multimedia data - more than enough for day-to-day computing.
The VPC-W11S1E/P is a mini notebook with real-wide screen for multimedia and Internet.
